Hi StefanF ,. As lack of this fan gradually increase the temperature at the "cold" upper part of the heat block and make filament become soft here before entering the heater so it will create a lot of additional load for the feeder..

Hi Torgeir ,. There actually was some PLA residue inside mostly threads ; I removed what I saw but didn't really think about it too much, so there might be enough left to block it. Do you have some hints how to clean that fan best? Great, hmm -you might look more closely with a good light and see if there is more that's locking the fan from rotating. So here's a video made by fbrc8-erin if needed to open the extruder unit:. Hey, I guess you were right.

The video is awesome, I already disassembled it with this guideline, which is also nice:. That menu does not control the front fan. That menu controls the side fans. The front fan is controlled by the firmware and will automatically run when the nozzle is at 50 C. By sohail , April 13, in Ultimaker 3D printers. I even tried cleaning nozzle still after that I'm facing same issues Can you share a few photo's of your feeder and print head?

The Um2 "plus" plus is key are much less likely to get underextrusion than other printers. If it's not brand new and if this problem is recent then I'd change the nozzle and the Teflon part as tinker says above. Also the wrong cura settings can easily cause underextrusion. You could try posting all of those - the key ones are: layer height, print speed all layer heights and all print speeds , line width all line widths and temperature but that's set on the printer.

Also try a cold pull. It's complicated to explain but easy to do. A cold pull will clean the nozzle from the inside - there could be sand, dust, pieces of nylon, etc in the nozzle. Are you doing a print with a lot of retraction in it? Grail 0 Posted March 9, Brannfjell 1 Posted March 9, Printjobs with a lot of retraction can cause this problem.

Tiger91 1 Posted March 10, There is something wrong then. If you provide some extra info we may be able to help you. Erin has already asked the most important questions. We have spent a lot of manyears engineering to get this absolutely problem free. So therefore I dare say: retractions are very very very reliable in a UM printer.

Edited March 11, by Guest. I wasnt able to print my keychains, that need 1. Tiger91 1 Posted March 16, SandervG 1, Posted March 16, I already tried to clean the print head, cleaned the feeder itself incl. I also tried to change the pressure of the feeder, all to no avail so far. I did only a visual check of the bowden tube, there doesn't seem to be any debris creating additional friction. Sometimes the feeder really grinds into the material, and you see where it was blocked, but quite often it also is only having slight signs of having been blocked just a bit of additional material taken away, no full grind.

I'm a bit lost what might be the reason, anyone has had such stubborn levels of non-feeding already? Hi StefanF ,. Hey, I guess you were right. Hi UlrichC-DE I have tried different tension setting for the feeder, all the way from top, middle and bottom, and I have no luck with the material grinding. Many thanks. First I would clean the print head. A few points that make life easier in the beginning - I would only print fine or normal at least not fast with 0.

It seems filament was pulled bit far and I can hear noise when it retracts. The layer height setting was between 0. I didn't change material, was using PLA ultimaker the whole time. Fan was on. First layer seems fine, the problem occurs duing the infil progress. I will keep observing this. Many thanks for the help. But I still couldn't remove the filament, whatever side I pulled on : I guess that might be caused by a degradation of the filament by ambient humidity : the spool was ulhimaker out in the open air for more than one month. Or will I have to disassemble the feeder completely? Assuming that's the problem. PVA is annoying in that if it gets too dry it also fails gets brittle. I'm not sure this math is the correct way to calculate things for drying filament but it's what I use. That should be safe I would hope. It just might take many hours for the water to escape the pva - especially on the inner turns of filament deep in the spool. Anyway I've used this trick heat it to C for nylon to dry nylon to great success. Thanks a lot!

For now I will try putting the spool in an airtight pouch with dessicant for several days. If that doesn't work I will try the heated bed. I would try the heated bed, then put into sealed bed with desiccant. If there is a lot of moisture in the PVA, it could take a while to get from the core to the edges. Also, it could be enough to overwhelm the desiccant. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community.

Hi everyone, I'e got a serious problem with my last print with PVA on my Ultimaker 3 : the material stopped extruding after 1hr, and while trying to unload the PVA filament I realized it was stuck in the feeder.

But I still couldn't remove the filament, whatever side I pulled on : I guess that might be caused by a degradation of the filament by ambient humidity : the spool was left out in the open air for more than one month.

I better vacuum seal my remaining PVA filament then.
